„Ślady życia” porażają swoją reporterską dosłownością. Trafiają bezbłędnie w najczulsze miejsce naszej wrażliwości i odporności na obrazy małych i wielkich tragedii. Odrażające widoki martwych istot na drodze przypominają o kruchości życia, nie tylko zwierzęcego. Niesamowita faktura tkanki biologicznej, zmieszanej, zgniecionej, wtopionej w podłoże, tworzy jakże turpistyczną martwą naturę. Proch i pył, zmieniająca się materia, która określa nasze pochodzenie i nieuchronne przeznaczenie, czas przeszły, teraźniejszość i przyszłość. Zwolnijmy nieco, widząc psa, czy kota na brzegu drogi… Andrzej Zujewicz “Traces of life” are dazzling the viewer with their reporter-like straight – forwardness. They reach the target which is the most important trouble spot of our sensibility and resistance to views of little tragedies and those huge ones too. Disgusting sights of dead animals on the road remind us of how fragile the life is, not only an animal’s life. Amazing texture of biological tissue which is mixed, crumpled and blended into the ground, at the same time creates some kind of “deadly still life”. Ashes and dust, changing matter which determines our origins and inevitable destiny, the past, the present, the future. Let’s slow down when we notice a dog or a cat walking along the verge of the road… Andrzej Zujewicz
Andrzej Zujewicz urodził się w Zabrzu w 1971 roku. W 1991 roku ukończył Państwowe Liceum Sztuk Plastycznych w Katowicach. W latach 1991–97 studiował na Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Krakowie na Wydziale Grafiki i Malarstwa. Dyplom z malarstwa obronił z wyróżnieniem w pracowni profesora Włodzimierza Kunza w 1997 roku. Po studiach zamieszkał w Żubrówce na Suwalszczyźnie. Podjął pracę jako instruktor – terapeuta w Warsztacie Terapii Zajęciowej w Suwałkach. Od roku 2000 pracuje w Regionalnym Ośrodku Kultury i Sztuki. Jest malarzem, rysownikiem, grafikiem i fotografikiem. Zdobył wiele nagród i wyróżnień w konkursach krajowych i zagranicznych, między innymi: stypendium Ministerstwa Kultury i Sztuki w 1999 roku, I nagroda w konkursie „Portret” organizowanym przez miesięcznik „Foto” i targi Polfoto w 1995 roku, wyróżnienie w konkursie fotograficznym„Images of Europe” – Europe Crossing Borders” w Holandii w 1996 roku, wyróżnienie na „Bielskiej Jesieni” biennale malarstwa w 1999 roku, finalista konkursu „Obraz Roku 2002” i „Obraz Roku 2003”, organizowanego przez Art & Business. Brał udział w kilkudziesięciu wystawach zbiorowych w kraju i za granicą, między innymi: „Animalakcje” w Centrum Sztuki Współczesnej Łaźnia w Gdańsku w 2002 roku, miał kilka wystaw indywidualnych – w Krakowie, Suwałkach i Ełku. Uczestnik i współorganizator Międzynarodowych Plenerów Malarskich „U źródła”, a także Salonu Plastyki Suwalskiej 2001 i Triennale Plastyki Suwalskiej 2004. Cykle malarskie: „Ptaki”, „Zwierzęta domowe”, „Suwalskie pejzaże”. Cykle fotograficzne:„Fotomontaże”, „Ślady życia”. Andrzej Zujewicz was born in Zabrze in 1971. In 1991 he successfully graduated from State Lyceum of Arts in Katowice. Between 1991 and 1997 Zujewicz was studying at Faculty of Graphic Arts and Painting at Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków. He received his diploma in 1997 with firstclass honours under Professor Wlodzimierz Kunz. After his studies he moved to Suwałki Land, to the village of Żubrówka. He started his work as an instructor and a therapist in Activity Workshops for Disabled People in Suwałki. Since 2000 he has been working for the Regional Centre of Arts and Culture in Suwałki. He is occupied by painting, drawing, graphic arts and artistic photography. Andrzej Zujewicz has received numerous awards in national as well as international competitions, for instance: in 1999 he received a scholarship which had been founded by Polish Ministry of Arts and Culture, the first prize in the competition “Portrait” which had been organised by Foto and Polfoto trade fair – 1995, an honourable mention in photography competition “Images of Europe – Europe Crossing Borders” in Holland in 1996, in 1999 Zujewicz received an honourable mention in art competition entitled “Autumn in Bielsk”. He is also a double finalistofanartcompetition“Thepaintingoftheyear”2002 and 2003, organised by Art & Business. He has taken part in a great number of individual and collective exhibitions in our country and abroad: “Animalakcje” in “Łaźnia” – the Centre of Contemporary Arts in Gdańsk 2002 and a few individual exhibitions in Kraków, Suwałki and Ełk.The artist is also a participant as well as an organiser of International Plain-Air Paintings “U źródła” and Saloon of Suwałki Plastic Arts 2001 together with The Triennials of Suwałki Plastic Arts 2004.Series of paintings: “Birds”, “Domestic animals”, “Suwałki landscapes”.
